摘要
Disorder-engineered TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel method with twice sintering processes. The analyses of TEM, XPS and PL showed that the structural disorders existed in disorder-engineered TiO2 nanoparticles were caused by introducing a certain concentration of oxygen vacancies (V(O)s). These structural disorders could tailor the band structure of modified TiO2 by inducing a valence band (VB) tail detected from VB-XPS. This fabrication could not only narrow the bandgap of TiO2 to extend the optical absorption to visible response, but also provide an improvement on photocatalytic activity of TiO2. To compare with the reference TiO2, disorder-engineered TiO2 showed a remark photodecomposition rate which is beyond 3 times higher than that of reference TiO2.
