A computer model is constructed to describe the formation of nonmetallic inclusions in high-carbon bearing steel. The effect of the steel's contents of aluminum, nitrogen, and oxygen on the formation of oxide and nitride phases during crystallization is analyzed, and it is established that the quantity of aluminum oxides formed depends non-monotonically on the aluminum content of bearing steel. Efficient deoxidation and microalloying with aluminum is proposed as an effective means of improving the quality of bearing steel.
