摘要
Nowadays it is well-accepted that topical polyphenol-rich products can reverse partially the clinical and histological changes in the epidermis and dermis induced by the combination of sunlight exposure and chronologic aging. Natural compounds used against photoaging comprise phenolic compounds, including flavonoids, phenolic acids (benzoic, gallic, cinnamic acids) and stilbenes derived from plants such as tea, grape, bergamot, rooibos, grapefruit, red orange. It was reported that many polyphenols from plants exhibit inhibitory activity against collagenases and elastases. Phenolic derivatives are efficient protectors through reduction of oxidative stress, inflammation and immunosuppression and may be important components in cosmetic formulations.
