摘要
The main difference between biomethane and natural gas is the relatively high concentration of various corrosion facilitative compounds in biomethane and therefore the risk of additional corrosion damage of transmission lines made of steel. The increasingly sizeable introduction of biomethane to natural gas transmission networks made of steel has become the new trend in Europe during the last decade. As a result, the issues associated with it have piqued the interest of researchers. In general, the reason for using biomethane has been largely based on the assumption that when mixing it with natural gas the concentration of corrosive materials would remain below the limit that is considered harmful. The purpose of this research is to systematise the existing data on the corrosive properties of O-2 and CO2 in carbon steel natural gas piping. In order to validate the data, a simplified method is used to test the corrosion resistance of steel used in Estonian gas piping against O-2 and CO2. (C) 2018 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
