Corrosion resistance of strained, high-strength cast iron in aqueous media

摘要
The corrosion resistance of the specimens of a high-strength cast iron of two heats that differ from each other in the number of graphite inclusions is investigated in the potable, mine and sea water. The specimens are strained by rolling and forging at a temperature of 900-1000degreesC. The resistance descends in the above order of the waters, but ascends as the number of graphite inclusions decreases and rod-shaped inclusions replace flaked ones. The positive effect of the preliminary straining increases symbatically with the corrosivity of the water.
