摘要：
Preliminary design of a manufacturing system is focused on in this paper, concerning its technical rather than managerial aspects. The concept of the design process using the notion of generic and specific process plans is presented first, followed by a data model to support its implementation. Finally, an analysis of implementation requirements using UML according to the collaborative network paradigm is briefly outlined.
