Erythrocyte velocity profile in human retinal vessels by Confocal laser Doppler Velocimetry

摘要
A method was developed to measure the velocity profile (V(d)) of red blood cells (RBCs) in retinal vessels using confocal laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV). A beam with a diameter markedly smaller than the vessel inner diameter (D) is scanned across a vessel. V(d) obtained from straight segments of retinal vessels do not significantly differ from the parabolic shape. In contrast, V(d) obtained at a site just past a venous junction is clearly non-parabolic and asymmetric.
