Location management using fuzzy logic control for wireless networks

摘要
In the micro-/pico-cellular wireless networks, the frequency of handoffs, and the amount of the traffic for location updating and terminal paging will be increased. For the geographical environment, the uncertainty of users' behavior and current positions, traditional location updating schemes are no longer applicable to micro-/pico-cellular wireless networks. In the paper a location-updating scheme using fuzzy logic control is proposed to adaptively adjust the size of the location area for each user. Simulation results show that, for the proposed scheme, the total location management cost is reduced by 40.24% on average. Moreover, the proposed scheme can operate normally under the geographical environment with blockage, and reduce the terminal paging cost efficiently.
