Improvement of the performance parameters of the surface plasmon resonance biosensor using Al2O3 and WS2

摘要
Here, proposed Kretschmann configuration based surface plasmon resonance biosensor shows immense improvement in its performance parameters. This highly sensitive biosensor provides a higher value of quality factor and detection accuracy. We presented a five-layer model of a biosensor with two dimensional transition metal di-chalcogenides Tungsten disulfide (WS2) in addition with Al2O3 layer. By using one layer of WS2 with six layers of Al2O3, the highest sensitivity (227.5 degrees/RIU), detection accuracy (1.1123), and quality factor (28.26RIU(-1)) can be achieved. CaF2 as coupling prism has also played a remarkable role in enhancing the performance parameters for its low refractive index.
