Quasiperiodic and chaotic motions of a cantilevered pipe conveying fluid

摘要
Nonlinear dynamics of a cantilevered pipe conveying fluid with a spring support and motion-limiting constraints has been investigated. Our interest in the paper is on some complicated behavior of the system near a doubly degenerate point. Through bifurcation analysis we detected a motion on two-dimensional torus which corresponds to the so-called quasiperiodic motion of the system. Furthermore, we found another route to chaos by the breakup of the quasiperiodic torus surface, which differs from that of periodic-doubling bifurcation route we detected earlier in this system.
