A novel kind of printed antenna, called nonuniform meandered and,fork-type grounded antenna (NMFGA), is proposed in this paper. The design of the NMFGA is simple, clear, and versatile: a nonuniform meandered patch (top patch) is designed to generate multiple and tunable resonant frequencies, while a fork-type grounded patch (bottom patch) is designed to improve and enhance the bandwidth property. As a design example, an EGSM/DCS dual-band antenna is presented. The measured and simulated reflection losses and measured radiation patterns are obtained and studied. (C) 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
