The kinetics of wetting of the surfaces of oxidized metal, ceramics, and glasses by a melt of borosilicate glass S52-1 were investigated. The chemical nature of wetting was established experimentally. Principles of topochemical processes are used for describing this phenomenon. The results of the investigation of the wetting kinetics for different solid bodies contribute to the understanding of the mechanism of adhesive bonding of glass to metals and ceramics.
