Intensely twisted elliptic optical fibres maintaining propagation of a single optical vortex

摘要
The l = 1 modes and bandgap structure of highly twisted elliptic-core weakly guiding fibres are studied theoretically. It is shown that such a few-mode fibre being illuminated by a circularly polarized Gaussian beam maintains within the bandgap the propagation of a single optical vortex while either suppressing or reflecting other l = 1 modes, as well as parasitic fundamental modes. It is also demonstrated that such a fibre can filter optical vortices in the sign of their topological charge.
