A typology of exercises for the treatment of the understanding of arithmetic word problems

摘要
The article socializes results of a doctoral thesis. During the research process, the limited development of primary schoolchildren for understanding word problems was identified. The analysis of the specialized literature revealed the lack of a typology of exercises based on the levels of cognitive performance, related to that process, and a taxonomy of questions based on the external structure of them. Consequently, the article pursued the objective of offering a typology of exercises for the treatment of word problems understanding. The application of a pre-experiment made it possible to verify the validity of the proposal.
