The environs of Seville in the 16th century: three views from Civitates Orbis Terrarum

摘要：
The end of the 16th century saw the publication of a crucial work known as Civitates Orbis Terrarum including three views of Seville of high documentary value -two by Hoefnagel and one copied from Brambilla- accurately portraying the city outskirts with explanatory texts. After examining their context, and for the first time, the detailed area is analyzed: port, suburbs, city walls and architectural landmarks in agrarian surroundings. Besides, other original views and copies are evaluated, locating their point of views on the original landscape, opposed to the transformed, current city.
