Heisenberg spin ladders offer valuable insight into the behaviour of low dimensional magnetic systems, representing an intermediate stage between one dimensional spin chains and two dimensional lattices. We have studied the spin dynamics of the spin ladder material (VO)(2)P2O7 by inelastic neutron scattering and have found that the observed scattering is broadly consistent with the excitation spectrum predicted by theoretical studies.
