摘要
The growing need for grid-connected battery energy storage systems to fulfill the increased energy demand has brought attention to the protection of the battery systems against DC short circuit fault condition. The DC short circuit current can be very destructive to the system due to its prolonged in time energy and low DC system impedance. In this paper, different available DC protections are reviewed. Then a proper protection circuit using Solid-State Circuit Breaker (SSCB) based on IGBT power switches has been simulated and designed to meet the specifications of the energy storage system. At the end of the paper, the test results are presented to discuss the performance of the designed SSCB under the given specification.
