Transmission properties of hollow glass fibers for the infrared fabricated by glass-drawing technique

摘要
Hollow glass fibers for delivery of mid-infrared lasers are drawn from a glass-tube preform to produce a long and flexible hollow fiber at low cost. A silver film is coated on the drawn glass tube with a wall thickness as small as 9.1 mum. A Pyrex-glass hollow fiber with an inner diameter of 340 mum and a length of 42 cm shows a loss of 3.0 dB for Er:YAG laser light.
