摘要
The possibility to produce single-photon states by selection from entangled pairs obtained by parametric frequency down-conversion is suggested and the efficiency of the, procedure is analyzed. A realistic model of such device is developed. The principle of the selection mechanism is clarified. It is shown that, taking into account unavoidable physical noises, it is very difficult to use this device for the fabrication of photon-number squeezed states. To achieve considerable squeezing, high degree of correlation and high mean photon numbers of the correlated photon pairs are necessary.
