We introduced a coating layer of Mg-Al-based layered double hydroxides (Mg-Al LDHs) on zinc oxide composite electrodes, and investigated its effects on the charge-discharge performance as a zinc negative electrode in alkaline solutions. The coating layer with Mg-Al LDHs successfully improved the discharge capacities and suppressed the shape change of electrodes after continuous charge-discharge cycles.
