摘要
Hypertension is more frequent and more severe in blocks than in other racial groups. Salt-sensitive and low-renin hypertension ore both more frequent in blocks. Cardiovascular morbidity appears to be similar in blocks and whites and depends on the classic cardiovascular risk factors. Kidney damage leading to end-stage renal disease is more frequent in blacks. Reduced salt intake improves drug efficacy Diuretics and calcium channel blockers ore more effective in lowering blood pressure, while angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitors may be more effective in preventing argon damage. Specific trials ore needed to evaluate therapeutic benefits in blocks.
