摘要
In this paper an approach is proposed for the Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique with a modified evaluation function on a typical thermal power system integrated with wind power. The evaluation function used is capable of speeding up the optimal solution convergence of PSO technique. The hourly average wind power has been calculated employing wind speed historical data of a wind farm located in Zafarana, Egypt. The problem is solved with and without the presence of the wind power penetration to show its impact on the total system cost. Numerical simulations are implemented in MAT LAB environment and the results obtained have been compared with previously published results.
