Nonlinear instability driven by advection of electron density in collisionless plasmas

摘要
The advection of electron density is shown to lead to supercritical nonlinear instability in collisionless plasmas by driving a damped linens eigenmode to finite amplitude. A novel analysis technique yields a complete description of the nonlinear state, including the nonlinear eigenmode and energy input rate. (C) 2000 published by Elsevier Science B.V.
