Regional anesthesia and outcome in obstetric anesthesia

In this presentation the effect of regional anaesthesia and analgesia on maternal, fetal and neonatal outcome is considered. Important maternal health outcomes include mortality, morbidity, post-partum. health and satisfaction. Regional analgesia in labour produces high quality pain relief and, in selected cases, reduces morbidity, but controversy continues regarding the impact of neuraxial analgesia on labour and delivery mode, breast-feeding and various aspects of maternal health.
