摘要
Research on surfaces treatment by thermal shock is currently being pursued at The Institute of Physics of the University of Rosario (IFUR), using plasma focus systems. Thus, the effect of the thermal shock, due to the incidence of highly energetic, short duration, plasma beams, on metallic surfaces, offers interesting possibilities for application in steels, increasing their resistance to (tic wear and microhardness. This work addresses the design and construction of a compact plasma focus module (30x30x100 cm(3)). generating pulses of ions, with a duration of 200 to 500 nanoseconds and an emission frequency under 10Hz. The energy deposited is 10 J at a fluence of 10(13) cm(-2) per pulse.
