摘要
This research project introduced a novel transition metal-free C C coupling reaction that is believed to be a new revolution in Suzuki type reactions. Carbon-carbon bond formation can be promoted by a mixture of 2-mercaptoethanol/ KOH/ DMSO without the aid of any transition metals. It has been suggested that this reaction proceeds through radical species, hence the electron transfer route is suggested for the operation during the oxidation of 2-mercaptoethanol in DMSO.
