Understanding the security threats of electronic voting systems

Electronic voting systems have recently been proposed as an alternative to existing voting systems. Although these systems may have the potential to increase voting participation and reduce administrative cost, they create new security concerns and threats. If these concerns and threats are not properly addressed, the general public will view the elections using electronic voting systems with skepticism. In this paper, we discuss these security threats. A prototype system is developed to understand some of these threats.
