The Regulatory Reforms in the Argentine Wholesale Electricity Market

This work shows the main regulatory reforms to the Argentine Electricity Market during the past 15 years. Due to the socio-economic crisis of 2001, characterized by the end of the currency convertibility to US dollars and the deterioration of the payment chain among market participants, some regulatory measures were introduced to the electricity market to offset the impact on the sector. This work also shows the main indicators and tendencies during this period, under a growing demand scenario. Finally, the paper shows the conclusions drawn from the explanatory variables that define the response to all the implemented reforms.
