摘要：

Significant reductions in science budgets and in the overall number of scientists in Russia have generated the myth that Russian science is dead. Equally mythical is the report that Russian science has lost none of its excellence during recent years. Whatever the myths may purport to tell us, the fact is that in many of the natural and social sciences the work of Russian scientists continues to make a world-standard contribution.
