These proceedings summarize a talk given at the Tau 2008 meeting in Novosibirsk, Russia, September 21-25, 2008. We report on the current status of the O(alpha(2)) and O(alpha(3)) hadronic contributions, calculated on the lattice, to the muon g - 2 which arise front the hadronic vacuum polarization and light-by-light scattering. An attempt to calculate the light-by-light, contribution to the muon anomalous moment in QED, using lattice techniques, as a first step toward computing the analogous hadronic contribution is discussed.
