Electrical characterization of (Cr,V,Ti)O2 solid solutions with rutile-type structure

In this work (Cr,V,Ti)O-2 solid solutions with rich-TiO2 compositions have been synthesized. Green samples and samples after each calcination have been characterized by X-Ray diffraction at room temperature, UV-V spectroscopy and electronic microscopy, in order to confirm the stability of these solid solutions with rutile-type structure at high temperatures (1400degreesC). With the calcined samples at 1400degreesC pellets were presses and Seebeck coefficient and complex impedance spectroscopy measurements were done. In these materials, the electrical behaviour corresponds to a extrinsic p-type semiconduction. The electrical conductivity is higher than that obtained in V-TiO2 solid solutions and it is enhanced with the amount of dopants in the TiO2 matrix.
