Critical rationality and ''value-education''

摘要
The demand for ''value-education'' is generally accompanied by a more or less pronounced rational scepticism. These doubts are principally directed against Critical Rationalism, By drawing on WEBER, ALBERT, and POPPER, the author shows that this view can only be maintained if Critical Rationalism is reduced to an epistemological program, if the demand for value-free analysis is misinterpreted, and if Critical Rationalism's philosophy of critique and its social philosophy are not taken into account. Critical Rationalism cannot and does not intend to provide a basis for concrete value education, however, it wants to lay the foundation for the mediation of attitudes and opinions on the basis of which people can decide for themselves which values they want to commit themselves to. However, whether this mainly epistemologically and sociophilosophically grounded program is psychologically supportable has to be left open.
