摘要
Despite predictions to the contrary, religion continues to play an integral role in the lives of Americans in general and African Americans in particular. This essay focuses on the place of the contemporary Black Church 1 and dynamics relative to relevance, semi-involuntariness, and consumerism as topics for continued sociological research on Black religious life in the spirit of scholarly inquiry by W. E. B. DuBois.
