The ATP-diphosphohydrolase of Schistosoma mansoni - Ecto-localization and possible roles in host-parasite interactions

摘要
We have recently described an ecto-ATP diphosphohydrolase in the tegument of the endoparasite Schistosoma mansoni. In this work, evidence indicating the ecto-localization of this enzyme is discussed. Biochemical characterization of this enzyme is presented, along with a discussion on its possible biological roles in the physiology of S. mansoni and in particular regarding interactions of this parasite with the human host.
