The so-called "Priestly" layer in Exodus-VII,14-XI,10: "Source" and/or/nor "redaction"? (A redaction-historical analysis of the "Plague Narrative" in the 'Book of Exodus')

After a presentation of the classical diachronic views on the composite character of Exod 7,14-11,10, especially with respect to the interpretation of P either as "source" or as "redaction", this contribution aims at describing the main results of the author's redaction-historical analysis of the "Plague Narrative" and, focusing on the crucial role of a comprehensive understanding of the concept of "redaction", at confronting it with classical diachronic research into Exod 7-11.
