Impact of pelvic floor disorders and prolapse on female-sexual function and response

Pelvic floor disorders and female sexual dysfunction are prevalent and challenging problems. Pelvic organ prolapse is a complex entity that involves poor support for multiple sites in the pelvic floor; the function of the urethra, bladder, and anorectum; and sexual function. These disorders cave physical and emotional impacts on women's sexual wellbeing. A comprehensive approach to the assessment and management of women with incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and sexual dysfunction is reviewed, and an evaluation of surgical management is presented.
