Investigation of heat transfer from a continuous air flow to the surface of structural materials, modified with zirconium by ion-atomic deposition

The results of experimental investigations are compared by the heat-transfer coefficients under conditions of continuous air Bow past plates, made from a number of structural materials (stainless steel, copper) and having the surface modified by the method of ion-atomic deposition of zirconium, and past analogous specimens with unmodified surface. It is shown that, for the specimens with modified surface and the thickness of deposited coat of 0.5 to 1 mcm, the heat transfer coefficient may be approximately 16-22% less than in the case of conventional specimens. Under the same conditions, the coefficient of heat transfer to a regular surface of technically pure zirconium does not differ from the heat transfer coefficient in the case of air flow along the unmodified surface of stainless steel.
