摘要
A tunnel-shaft system is under construction in the southern state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Inside the underground openings a gas pipeline will be fitted, with length of 786 m in the tunnel and 321 m in the shaft. Monthly maintenance crews will work at the bottom of the shaft and tunnel end, requiring adequate ventilation during working days. Three alternatives are under analysis: natural ventilation, natural eolic ventilation and forced duct ventilation. Decision on which system will be chosen is based on fresh air requirements, investment costs, maintenance costs, safety and reliability of the system that will not operate continuously At present forced duct ventilation seems the most appropriate solution..
