Key words like 'moisture wound healing' and 'wound management' and the lack of evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of wounds cause more confusion than clarification. There is a confusing number of products for wound treatment. Healing of wounds, especially chronic wounds, often is protracted. Thus, the selection of adequate wound dressings is more important than ever, also with respect to the increasing cost pressure in health care services. In the present article, an overview of today available wound dressings is given.
