摘要
Recent experiments have made it possible to trap microcavity polaritons in an in-plane harmonic potential. We discuss the theory of this system and show that Bose condensation is possible, and that a method for evaporative cooling exists. The position-dependent mixing of the exciton and photon states leads to a decreased lifetime for high-energy states. (c) 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
