Residual stress analysis in the Al2O3/Ti3SiC2 multilayer composites

摘要
The residual stress in the Al2O3/Ti3SiC2 multilayer composites was analyzed in the present paper. A certain amount of TiC was formed in the Ti3SiC2 layer because the Si-enriched liquid was volatilized and diffused from the Ti3SiC2 layer into the Al2O3 layer at high temperature. Because of the difference of the thermal expansion coefficient between the Al2O3, TiC and Ti3SiC2, the residual stress occured in the multilayer composites (according to the calculation, the value was about 288MPa, tensile stress in the Al2O3 layer and compressive stress in the Ti3SiC2 layer). The residual stress state was favorable to crack deflection in the interface between the Al2O3 layer and Ti3SiC2 layer, and then the toughness of the Al2O3/Ti3SiC2 multilayer composites was improved.
