Multinuclear magnetic resonance: A valuable tool for structural analysis in coordination chemistry

摘要
The optimal conditions for the NMR observation of nuclei different from proton and carbon-13 are discussed according to receptivity and the factors governing the relaxation processes. Special attention is given to transition metals : for these nuclei, the dominant relaxation mechanisms are, according to their spin, quadrupolar relaxation (I > 1/2) or chemical shift anisotropy relaxation (I = 1/2). Heavy nuclei, which exhibit huge chemical shift scale and large spin-spin coupling constants, are also discussed.
