New plastic for blister packaging resists tropical climates

A recently developed plastic film unites all the properties that are essential for a blister pack. Manufactured from Topas(R) a cycloolefin copolymer, this new film has proved ideal for the blister-packaging of Aspirin(R) a painkiller which is climatically very sensitive, destined for use in the tropics (Climatic Zone 4). Displaying excellent water vapour impermeability, this new film is crystal clear and biocompatible. Its manufacture is environmentally friendly and it can be readily processed on existing thermoforming machines. Moreover, it is an economical alternative to blister packaging films used hitherto.
