摘要
Regarding cultural production the era of the 80s is often considered to be a reaction, in a way a backlash against the 70s; on the one hand, resulting in a rise of neo-conservativism, and on the other, redirecting the cultural flow from the various margins towards, what will soon become, the unique mediated cultural space. Among the emerging voices of the American literature in the 80s, Don DeLillo's novels White Noise and Libra stand out as a bold commentary on the issues of subjectivity in the context of discourses produced by the cultural flow. Exploring consumer culture and the discourses of history DeLillo's novels announce fluidity and ephemerality of the world of images on the rise and problematize possible positions of an identity/subject/subjectivity within.
