摘要
The article examines Russian media responses to the problem of domestic violence in the context of the Volodina v. Russia judgment. Employing qualitative and quantitative content analysis and critical discourse analysis, the article looks into the main discourses on gender/family, introduces the Russia/ECtHR standoff, identifies the main actors and narratives, and recreates the dynamics of discussion on the ECtHR judgment and draft law on domestic violence. The article concludes that traditionalist/liberal media responses to the ECtHR decision were aimed at criticizing the state, while suggesting different ways of overcoming the problem.
