摘要
Segregation and agglomeration are the commonly reported problems in fabrication of aluminum metal matrix composites (AMCs) by stir casting route. In this study, an attempt is made to fabricate homogeneously dispersed hybrid AMC by tuning the settling velocity of the particles. Settling velocity of the particles was found by using MATLAB software. The AMCs with 5 wt% reinforcement (mixture of TiB2, B4C, Al2O3 and SiC in equal amount) was prepared by gravity stir casting. Uniform hardness of 51 HV was observed at bottom and top section of the casting which indicates homogeneous distribution of the particles in the hybrid metal matrix composite. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd.
