摘要
Wireless sensor networks (WSN) consist of many tiny sensor nodes, which have the ability of sensing data processing and wireless communication. But the node's memory space and bandwidth for communication are too limited. To resolve the problem of the huge amounts of samples which are difficult to be transferred and stored, a data compression method based on an improved binary tree is presented, which compresses the original data by correlation among adjacent samples and among multiple sensor data. The algorithm eliminates correlation of the data in 2-D direction in order to save the memory and enhance the efficiency of the data transmission. It is effective to compress data before transmitting for reduce power consumption. This method has the advantages of an easy program. a small account of computation and simple hardware implementation, and it achieves a satisfactory result in the experiment on Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) sensor network system.
