We present designs of high-contrast gratings (HCGs) functioning as both reflection mirror and double-sided wavefront engineering plate for single-mode 940-nm VCSELs. This approach enables simultaneous engineering of VCSEL cavity and emitting properties. (C) 2020 The Author(s)
