摘要
Citric acid is widely used in food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Almost entire quantity of citric acid production depends on fermentation technology using the filamentous fungus, Aspergillus niger. Solid state fermentation offers numerous advantages for the producton of citric acid. The present work highlights on the different parameters for Citric acid production by Apergillus niger NRRL 334 from agro industrial wastes in solid state fermentation. It was found that banana residues at initial pH 3.5, initial humidity 65%, 30 degrees C temperature were the most favourable parameters for the yield of 327.7 g/kg dry weight yield of citric acid and 26.6 g/kg dry weight of biomass after 120 h. The comparative analysis for citric acid production using agro industrial wastes specific to India is reported for the first time.
