摘要
The ketogenic diet (KD) is a dietary approach for refractory pediatric epilepsy to improve seizure control. The KD is composed of high fat, adequate protein and low carbohydrate. This leads to a big challenge in applying the KD because the staple food of the Asian countries is rice and contains less fat than Western diet. The KID is initiated under close medical supervision in the hospital. After admission, the dietitian assesses patient's nutrition status and calculates the amount of food composition. We provide the diet with blended form when starting the KID and increase gradually to the full amount over three days. In order to improve and maintain the efficacy in the KID, the cooperation of medical team, dietitian and patient (including care-giver) is the most important.
